Raised in the urban city of Compton, California, Richard Villa always knew he wanted to make people laugh. After a few short years Richard was accepted to The Groundlings Theatre Group. With his comedy and thorough understanding of his audience, Richard Villa's comedy career rose quickly and he went on to be the Creator and Founder of Refried Comedy, which the world renowned Hollywood Improv quickly picked up for their Friday spot, making Richard the first Latino to ever host the Hollywood Improv on Friday nights. Richard's experience and talent has led to him sharing the stage with other performers such as Jeff Garcia, Carlos Mencla, Gabriel Iglesia, Kevin Hart, Mike Epps, Dave Chapelle, Dane Cook, Orlando Jones, Dat Phan, Russell Peters, and Louis CK.
His ability to appeal to the audience earned him a special invitation by the U.S. Military to perform for the troops on the Combat Comedy Tour which included Iraq, Unit, May, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Djibouti, and Saudi Arabia. Now nationally headlining, Richard is breaking through to other countries such as Australia and Mexico. Being hailed today as the leader for the new generation of Latino Comics, Richard Villa exemplifies dedication to making other people laugh, and his talent with all things comedy has translated from the stage into acting in numerous roles in film (Breaking Wind, Hostage, Combat Comedy, see below) and television (Mun2s Loco Comedy Jam, HBO, Los Angeles based LATV, see below). You can also see him as the main role in an upcoming TV show with Rob Schnieder (Real Rob).
