G.E.M.S. (Getting Every Mother Situated) is a 501 c (3) non profit organization that prevents homeless and battered families from having to return to their abusers. We provide emergency housing, counseling, resources, and referrals so that victims of domestic violence don’t have to live in fear. We help abused families rebuild their lives by giving them the tools they need to become self sufficient, independent, and free from the chains of an abusive household.
G.E.M.S. was founded by Activist, Author, and Comedian Trizah. Because when she was a battered, pregnant, and homeless mother living in her car on the streets of Compton, CA there was no network of resources to guide her through the process of walking away from her abuser once and for all. She would leave and be forced to go back simply because she couldn’t make it on her own. The last time she returned almost cost her and her unborn baby’s lives. Being confined, raped, and beaten for hours and forced to squeeze her 8 month pregnant body through a second story bathroom window ended a life of hurt and began a life of healing. Once she got her life together Trizah wrote a novel about her experiences titled, ‘Miracles Of My Mistakes’. She used the money from her book to start G.E.M.S. so that no family would have a reason to return.
Becoming a comedian gave Trizah an opportunity to let others laugh and learn from what she has been through. She has performed at major comedy clubs and opened for top comedians everywhere and recently wrapped up the Growth Spurt Tour at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas. Her comedy is hilarious and outrageous it’s been said that Rosanne Barr and Robin Harris had a secret love child who does comedy and her name is Trizah.
